Davis County Sheriff's deputies are looking for potential victims of a man they allege tried to coerce a 13-year-old girl he met over the Internet into a sexual relationship.
Investigators with the Ogden-based Northern Utah Internet Crimes Against Children task force were contacted by the girl's parents who were going through her e-mail accounts and discovered she was talking to several adult men online.
"I took over her accounts and continued the conversation," Davis County Sheriff's detective Jon West said Wednesday. "He wanted to meet so we arranged a meeting for him."
On Aug. 1, police said Torrey Jay Copfer, 32, was arrested in Syracuse on suspicion of enticing a minor over the Internet. Under questioning, West said Copfer admitted to talking to several underage girls online. West said he had a pair of MySpace profiles as well as several e-mail addresses, and police were trying to determine if there were other children who had been contacted.
On Wednesday, the Davis County Sheriff's Office took the unusual step of releasing some of Copfer's e-mail addresses in an effort to solicit information about any other potential victims.
The addresses include:
t.j.photos@hotmail.com, getreal61@hotmail.com, tcopfer@comcast.com, and tcopfer@gmail.com
Copfer's MySpace profile:
MySpace.com - Jay - 25 - Male - LAYTON, Utah - www.myspace.com/getreal61
