Suspect Charged In Internet Sting

An Oconee County Sheriff's Office sex sting over the Internet lured a Townville man to a deputy who had been posing as a 13-year-old girl in a chat room.

Jordan Robert Hicks, 22, of 1300 Double Springs Road in Townville, drove to Walhalla on Friday night after chatting two hours on the Internet with the undercover Sheriff's agent who works on the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force program.

Sgt. Casey Bowling, who arrested Hicks, said it was one of the fastest arrests he's made while trolling Cyberspace for adults preying on children.

"It usually takes several days of chatting," Bowling said.

However, after two hours of chatting on the Internet, Bowling said Hicks drove into Walhalla from Townville with the intention of having sex with a presumed 13-year-old.

"He was very shocked to find Sheriff's deputies waiting for him," Bowling said.

Hicks remained at the Oconee Detention Center on Monday. His bail was set at $41,000.
